Tourist info kiosk: the spread out

Tourist Informator, Busteni

Recently, one of my colleagues told me about the tourist info kiosk in Buşteni. Finally, I figured out, that the one in Braşov is part of the same network like the one in Buşteni. You can see a few pictures of the tourist info kiosk on Zodia penei’s Blog.

The tourist info kiosk called tourist informator provides city maps and info about places where to eat, where to stay over night, where to go (tourist attractions) or info about different kind of events. The hotel reservations could be made free of charge using the phone hanged near to the touch-screen, in 3 minutes time limit. Also, the tourists could take pictures of them self and send them to their friends via e-mail.

Soon, we will see one or more tourist info kiosks in Bucharest.

Planificator de rută pentru mijloacele de transport în comun din Bucureşti

Judecând după data comentariilor (vezi 1 şi 2) prin intermediul cărora se doreşte promovarea instrumentului de orientare pe traseul mijloacelor de transport în comun din Bucureşti, RATB Navigator, putem spune că acesta şi-a făcut apariţia în .ro undeva spre sfârşitul lunii maritie Conform serviciului web.archive.org, prima indexare a RATB Navigator figurează în luna septembrie 2007, deşi domeniul este înregistrat la ROTLD din august 2007.

Nu cred că contează aşa de mult data exactă de când acest serviciu a devenit activ, pe cât contează facilităţile pe care acesta la pune la dispoziţia utilizatorilor. Din punctul meu de vedere este un index al mijloacelor de transport în comun (tramvaie, autobuze, troleibuze) şi al traseelor pe care acestea circulă, mai exact staţiile în care acestea opresc de la un capăt la altul. Pentru fiecare staţie afişată se prezintă legăturile cu alte mijloace de transport în comun de suprafaţă, precum şi obiectivele din apropierea staţiilor (bănci, firme, muzee etc.).

De asemenea, site-ul pune la dispoziţie un planificator de rută. După stabilirea punctului de plecare şi punctului de sosire traseul este afişat, la alegere, fie pe Google Maps, fie pe Yahoo!Maps.

Conform informaţiilor puse la dispoziţie pe site, traseele afişate sunt actualizate pe baza modificărilor apărute în rutele mijloacelor de transport în comun.

Reţele sociale: turism 2.0 made in .ro

Pe zi ce trece, timid ce-i drept, apar instrumente online utile în etapa de e-iformare (celelalte etape sunt cele de e-rezervare şi e-payment) din cadrul procesului de cumpărare online sau offline a unui pachet de servicii turistice. Două dintre acestea sunt după cum urmează:

Love2Travel

Love2Travel este una din puţinele reţele sociale turistice din online-ul românesc. Love2Travel poate fi pur şi simplu un jurnal de călătorie pentru cei dispuşi să îşi împărtăşească impresiile de călătoarie, un caiet de sugestii numai bun de consultat pentru cei ce vor să afle detalii despre anumite destinaţii sau un planificator de călătorie prin care se prietenii pot fi invitaţi să ia partea la călătoria planificată de utilozator.

Din păcate, reţeaua nu este populară în rândul internauţilor – conform statisticilor trafic.ro, doar în jur câteva zeci de persoane îl vizitează zilnic – deşi majoritatea românilor ce navighează pe Internet au trăit o experienţă turistică ce merită povestită prin intermediul blogului pus la dispoziţie sau evidenţiată prin intermediul albumului foto. Miam

Miam este o reţea socială unde utilizatorii pot face review-uri celor mai bune locuri de ieşit dintr-un oraş/staţiune ca magazine, fast food-uri, restaurante, baruri, cluburi şi alte atracţii cu care se poate termina o zi clasică a unui turist.

De menţionat faptul că reţeaua (încă în construcţie) a fost gândită de către acelaşi om din spatele Ghidului Mobil, Alex Brie.

Cele două recomandări de mai sus pun accentul, după cum cred că v-aţi dat seama, pe user generated content: păreri proprii ale unor consumatori de produse şi servicii turistice şi nu ale unor agenţi de vânzări ce îţi pot prezenta altfel realitatea în dorinţa de a vinde cât mai mult.

The New Mercedeses Citaro for RATB

Even though in the beginning I thought it was part of the M.L.M. Network’s project (a closed circuit television designed for the public transportation), a project based on Liviu Iane’s idea, it didn’t took me so long to figure out that the buses are the new Mercedes Citaro (equipped with GPS) acquired by RATB and recently available on the public transportation routes like 131, 331, 205 and 182.

The buses are equipped with ecological engines, passenger counter system, surveillance video cameras and a GPS system that displays data on a LCD monitor. The GPS system shows the main bus route and the adjacent streets (with their names). Also, the system displays the distance between the bus stations.

I think it would be great for tourists to see on the GPS monitor the main tourist objectives and attractions (like parks, museums, memorial houses and other attractions – in the same way that the closed circuit television was designed) while the bus pass by them.

Mobile communications in aircrafts

National Regulatory Authority for Communications and Information Technology launched a draft decision for public consultation regarding the use of mobile phones in aircrafts, during the flights. I think this will be one of the many steps in giving away the frustrating part of air travel.

Also, Tarom and many other airline operators, introduced few years ago an Airtrack system that combines entertainment and safety. The system provide passengers with informative and detailed views of the ground below the planes flight path as well as the earth’s surface.

The biggest swiming pool in the world

The swimming pool and the artificial lagoon at San Alfonso Del Mar Resort in Chile are eight hectares in size. The pool was acknowledged by Guinness World Records as being the world’s largest swimming pool with 1km in length and a capacity of 250.000 cubic meters of water.

It cost $1.5 billion to make and fill and each 6 months $2 million will be spend for maintenance.

So … if you want to stay away from sharks, jelly fishes and seaweed, don’t hesitate to put this place on your map.
