Electronic ticket

In April 2005, CFR Călători started to implement an electronic sales and reservations system (the XSELL system) for domestic railway traffic. The system has already been implemented and is now in use in almost all major railway stations in Romania – 153 stations, and 67 CFR agencies, and by the deadline it has to be present in 350 units.

‘Till the end of 2009, CFR Călători will fully-rigge personal and InterCity trains with more than 100 mobile devices for electronic tickets purchase. The ticket’s price will include a supplementary tax, but once you’ve bought the ticket your seat in the train is guaranteed (nowadays, you can buy a ticket from ticket collector but the seat is not guaranteed).
